Man Dies After Thar SUV Falls Into Roadside Well in Telangana

Investigators are probing intoxication after police reported survivors had blood-alcohol readings above 200.

Overview

  • A Thar SUV veered off a rural road in Morapalli village and plunged into a roadside agricultural well late on Sunday night, leaving the driver trapped and the vehicle submerged.
  • Rescuers and local residents worked for nearly four hours to pull the vehicle from the well and recover the driver’s body; operations ended around 1:30 a.m. when the body was retrieved.
  • Police identified the deceased as 28-year-old Dasari Arun and the two injured rear-seat occupants as B. Nivesh and Ashwin, who escaped through the rear door and alerted neighbours.
  • Jagtial Rural police said the two survivors recorded blood-alcohol concentrations above 200 and have told officers they were watching the IPL final before the crash, prompting probes of intoxication and distraction.
  • Officials say water pressure and submersion can make opening car doors difficult, investigators continue to reconstruct the sequence of events, and further forensic and toxicology findings are pending.
