Man Dies After Sidcup Pub Assault, 36-Year-Old Arrested

Metropolitan Police have launched an active inquiry urging witnesses to come forward.

Overview

  • Stuart Tickner, 50, was found unconscious on Station Road outside a pub at around 1am on Monday, May 25 and was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
  • He died in hospital on Saturday, May 30 after suffering severe head injuries from the assault.
  • A 36-year-old man presented at hospital on Tuesday, May 26 and is currently under arrest on suspicion of attempted murder while receiving medical treatment.
  • Superintendent Kier Newman said the force is supporting Tickner’s next of kin and asked anyone who saw the incident to call police on 101 quoting reference 434/25MAY or to contact Crimestoppers.
  • Police describe the inquiry as active and say further steps could include forensic checks, CCTV and witness interviews that may lead to charges or court action.
