Overview
- Emergency services including police, ambulance crews, HM Coastguard and an air ambulance responded to a welfare concern at about 11am on Sunday and treated the man on the beach.
- Despite the best efforts of paramedics the man was declared deceased at the scene and officers erected a screen while closing Carlisle Parade (A259) to manage the area.
- Sussex Police confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances, that the man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported, and that a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.
- The incident took place on a busy seafront during an unusually hot May weekend when temperatures climbed to around 30C and the UK Health Security Agency had issued an amber alert for health services.
- The coroner’s process will establish the formal cause of death and police have said no further investigative details will be released while family liaison continues.
