Man Charged Over Lucky Plaza Assault Caught on Video

Prosecutors cite a breach of a prior conditional warning in moving the case forward.

  • The 47-year-old Singaporean, Andrew Suresh Markandan, was charged Wednesday with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt and two counts of mischief against Ms Alibutdan Vilma Litgio.
  • Police say the Feb 8 attack at Lucky Plaza, seen in viral clips, involved him hitting the back of the woman’s neck and kicking her, which left bruises and a scratch.
  • He is also accused of bending her ATM card, denting her phone by throwing it, and breaking her bag strap during the same incident.
  • Investigators say the pair knew each other and that he had assaulted her on Mar 30, 2025 at Hotel 81 Bugis, after which he received a 12‑month conditional warning on May 8, 2025.
  • In court he gave no plea and the case was adjourned to May, and if convicted he faces up to three years’ jail or a fine for causing hurt and up to two years’ jail or a fine for mischief.
