Man Charged in Two Sexual Incidents at Copperfield Park

Police say forensic work and search warrants tied a 24-year-old suspect to separate cases and detectives are asking possible victims to come forward.

Overview

  • Police say an elderly woman walking her dog was exposed, followed, and touched without consent at Copperfield Park on Monday, June 1, and that the encounter led officers to locate and detain a suspect.
  • Investigators linked the same man to a separate May 15 incident at the same park in which he allegedly exposed himself to an adult woman and her child.
  • The suspect, identified by APD as 24-year-old Jacoby Duane Lacy, was booked into the Travis County Jail and faces misdemeanor and felony counts including indecent assault, indecent exposure, attempted aggravated sexual assault, and indecency with a child.
  • Austin Police say Sex Crimes Unit detectives and forensic crime scene specialists executed search warrants and collected evidence as part of an active investigation and review of charges.
  • Detectives believe there may be more victims who have not yet reported incidents and are urging anyone with information or who may be a victim to contact the Austin Police Sex Crimes Unit at 512-974-5095.
