Man Charged and Held Without Bond in Cameron Shooting

Charged with multiple felonies, the 26-year-old suspect is being held without bond as investigators gather evidence.

Police responded to a 911 call about a shooting at a home on South Chestnut Street and found a 28-year-old collapsed with a gunshot wound.
Officers were told the suspect had left and soon located Travis Alexander Collins Jr., 26, in the 300 block of South Walnut Street and arrested him without incident.
Collins faces first-degree assault, armed criminal action and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and a court ordered he be held without bond.
The victim was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to a Kansas City-area hospital, and officials have not released the victim's condition.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking the public to submit tips to Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers as they continue to gather evidence.
