Man Charged After Woman Fatally Run Over by Moving Truck in West Houston

Police have charged a crew member with manslaughter after reviewing surveillance footage that shows the truck struck the woman following an on-site dispute.

Overview

  • Police say a three-person moving crew arrived for a scheduled job and a dispute between a man and woman on the crew ended when the man drove the box truck into the woman, who died at the scene on Thursday.
  • Officers recovered surveillance video that they say shows the box truck striking the woman and used that footage to locate and detain the suspect without incident.
  • The suspect was identified by police as 33-year-old Keith Bembry Sims and was charged with manslaughter and failure to stop and render.
  • The victim’s identity has not been released while the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences completes family notification and the homicide investigation remains active.
  • A third crew member stayed at the scene and is not reported as charged, and investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine motive and sequence of events.
