Man Charged After Woman Allegedly Punched and Forced Into Car in Portglenone

The suspect is scheduled to appear at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today.

  • PSNI said a 42-year-old has been charged with five counts of common assault, threatening or abusive behaviour, two counts of false imprisonment, a domestic abuse offence, non-fatal strangulation or asphyxiation, and taking a motor vehicle without authority.
  • The reported assault occurred around 10pm on Saturday, March 14, on Main Street in Portglenone, County Antrim.
  • A member of the public reported that a woman was punched in the head and face before being forced into a black Nissan Qashqai.
  • Detectives are appealing for witnesses and for anyone with CCTV or other video footage to contact police on 101 quoting reference 2 15/03/26.
  • Police stated that, as is standard, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
