Man Charged After Parking-Lot Shootout in Boynton Beach
Investigators say the episode grew from a recent breakup and a reported workplace disturbance.
Overview
- The shooting happened Wednesday evening in a shopping-plaza parking lot at 2244 N. Congress Ave. when 44-year-old Frisner St. Cyr walked up to two people, exited a black Cadillac and opened fire.
- One of the people targeted returned fire while holding a concealed-weapons permit and struck St. Cyr, who was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition and is expected to survive.
- Boynton Beach police have charged St. Cyr with attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
- Officers recovered multiple shell casings at the scene, found at least one vehicle damaged by gunfire and say witnesses reported people fleeing and bystanders rendering aid.
- Police describe the attack as linked to a recent breakup and a June 5 workplace disturbance and say the case highlights risks from stalking-like behavior while the investigation continues and authorities seek more witnesses.
