- Police responded to a fight near Clayton Square at about 4:45am Monday after reports one man threatened another with a gun.
- Merseyside Police said there is no suggestion a firearm was used and no injuries were reported.
- After CCTV and witness checks, officers arrested a 37-year-old on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate.
- Large cordons sealed Button Street, Mathew Street, Victoria Street and part of Whitechapel, with further tape later on Ranelagh Street and Church Street as officers searched businesses.
- Following Monday afternoon’s recovery of a BB gun, police charged Lewis Phelan, 37, who is due at Wirral Magistrates’ Court today.
