Man Charged After Coach Passenger Stabbed on M6 Toll Near Cannock

Police link the case to a disturbance on a southbound coach near Cannock.

  • Staffordshire Police named the suspect as Lee Pountain, 41, of Hexham, Northumberland, who is charged with section 18 wounding with intent and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

  • The stabbing was reported around 8:15am on Sunday, February 15, on the southbound M6 Toll between junctions T8 and T7.
  • The victim sustained a shoulder injury, was treated at the scene, taken to hospital, and has since been discharged, according to police.
  • Ambulance crews, a MERIT trauma team, and a Midlands Air Ambulance responded; the M6 Toll was briefly closed during the investigation, with traffic delays of about ten minutes reported by Inrix.
