Overview
- Prosecutors say Liban Dualle, 33, boarded an E Line trolley, grew aggressive toward a woman and her son, then grabbed the boy’s leg and tried to pull him from his stroller between Haymarket and Government Center.
- Another passenger and an MBTA employee forced Dualle off the train at Park Street, MBTA Transit Police found a man matching the description at Chauncy and Summer streets, and the victim positively identified him to officers.
- Dualle was arraigned and charged with attempted kidnapping, threat to commit a crime, disorderly conduct on a public conveyance, and two counts of assault and battery, and prosecutors have him held without bail.
- Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden praised the bystander and MBTA employee who intervened and said the case underscores that no transit rider should face such threats.
- A dangerousness hearing is scheduled for May 26 to decide whether Dualle will remain detained before trial and the episode has renewed local concern about rider safety on the MBTA.
