Man Arrested on Murder, Arson Charges in San Marcos House Fire That Killed Two

The medical examiner is still working to confirm the victims' identities.

  • Hours after the Saturday night blaze, homicide detectives arrested 33-year-old Luis Alvarado of San Marcos in connection with the deaths.
  • Alvarado was booked into San Diego Central Jail and is expected to be arraigned Thursday in North County Superior Court.
  • Firefighters called to the 900 block of Lacebark Street around 11:45 p.m. Saturday found the two-story home fully engulfed and later located two people dead in an upstairs room.
  • No other injuries were reported at the scene.
