Man Arrested After Woman Flees Olive Garden, Accused of Forcing Marriage and Cutting Her in 'Satanic' Ritual

Prosecutors say the arrest starts a multi-state probe and that more charges in New Hampshire and Maine are likely.

Overview

  • Police arrested 47-year-old Daniel Ouellet at an Olive Garden in Newington after a woman ran from the restaurant and asked officers for help.
  • Court documents say Ouellet contacted the woman on May 31 and then coerced her into signing marriage paperwork at a Lee campground, according to her account to investigators.
  • The woman told police Ouellet pointed a loaded handgun at her while she drove and on Saturday in Kittery he cut her hand with a box cutter to draw blood for what she described as a satanic ritual.
  • Officers recovered a copy of The Satanic Bible and other items from Ouellet’s vehicle, and he was charged in Newington with using a weapon to prevent reporting while being held pending further proceedings.
  • The victim received an emergency protective order, prosecutors noted Ouellet’s prior convictions for domestic-violence‑related offenses and DWI, and authorities said the cross‑jurisdictional investigation could bring additional charges.
