Overview
- Officers found 81-year-old James Handy unconscious with a stab wound in the front yard of a Tarzana home and he later died at a hospital.
- A 911 caller told dispatch, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” a statement the LAPD cited but has not tied to a motive or mental-health finding.
- Responding officers were flagged down by 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who identified himself as the person they were looking for and was arrested at the scene.
- Police say Gledhill lives at the residence with his mother, who was Handy’s girlfriend, and they have called the incident isolated with no apparent danger to the public.
- Gledhill is held at the Valley Jail on one count of murder with bail set at $2,000,000 and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Robbery-Homicide Division.
