Overview
- Officers found a man in his 50s inside Playa Hermosa Fish & Oyster Co. after a 1:45 a.m. break-in Wednesday and took him into custody.
- Surveillance video shows him drinking from liquor bottles, hurling them until a bar shelf shattered, and overturning chairs, patio heaters, and planters.
- Co-owner Levi Lupercio estimates about $100,000 in damage and says the restaurant will stay closed for repairs at least through Friday.
- Hermosa Beach police say he remains in custody and will seek a magistrate review to keep him detained until he appears in court.
- Police confirmed he is the same person reported for dining and dashing there earlier in April after which the owner declined to press charges.
