Man Arrested After Allegedly Choking McDonald’s Manager While Posing as Officer in San Diego

Police identified the suspect as Joshua Walter Cobb, who is jailed without bail ahead of a Wednesday arraignment.

San Diego police say the 40-year-old suspect grabbed the University City restaurant manager from behind around noon and wrapped an arm around his neck.
The assailant allegedly accused the manager, who is Hispanic, of being in the country illegally and claimed he was placing him under arrest.
Coworkers and on-site security intervened and forced the man out, and responding officers detained him nearby.
Investigators determined he was not a law enforcement officer and booked him on suspicion of impersonating an officer and battery.
Police reported no injuries and noted multiple videos of the incident circulating online, and investigators asked witnesses to contact Det. Sgt. Nick Zastrow.
