Malinalco Water Official Returns Home After Abduction

Officials continue a joint state–federal operation to investigate the case.

Overview

  • FGJEM confirmed Saturday that Rogelio Poblete Zamora was left on a street in Malinalco and returned to his home on his own.
  • Poblete, who leads the municipal water agency, was seized April 15 by armed men near Palmar de Guadalupe as he traveled in a pickup.
  • Authorities mounted a broad search that brought in state prosecutors, the Army and Navy, federal security, national intelligence, the federal attorney general’s office, and state police.
  • Investigators went to his residence after his return, and he declined a formal interview and a medical exam, saying he was not in condition.
  • Officials have not said the operation caused his release, and the municipality points to recent abductions and the presence of La Familia Michoacana and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel as it urges unity and stronger security and social measures.
