Make-Up Artist, 26, Killed in Two-Car Crash on A170

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam or CCTV footage to support a specialist collision inquiry

  • Ava Gillies, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene after a two-vehicle collision on the A170 near Wrelton that took place at about 1.30am on Wednesday, July 29.
  • Her white Volkswagen Polo was struck by a black Audi A4 and five occupants of the Audi were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

  • Gillies’ family released a tribute through police describing her as a talented hair and make-up artist and asked the media not to contact them; funeral and celebration-of-life arrangements will be announced in due course.
