Major Shop Fire Destroys Antalya Shawarma on Middlesbrough’s Linthorpe Road

Multiple fire engines, an aerial platform and hazardous-area medics have responded, with the scene cordoned as investigators examine the site.

  • A large blaze broke out at Antalya Shawarma on Linthorpe Road and left the takeaway a burnt-out ruin after crews were called to the scene on Saturday.
  • Cleveland Fire Brigade deployed seven to eight appliances plus an aerial ladder platform and duty officers to tackle the fire.
  • North East Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, clinical lead, duty officer and two HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) units and two people were taken to James Cook University Hospital.
  • Cleveland Police closed Linthorpe Road between Gresham Road and Princes Road and kept a cordon in place while buildings are made safe and the cause is investigated.
