Maharashtra Signs Rs 1.14 Lakh Crore MoU for Green AI Compute Hub

The move signals a bid to use policy incentives to pull major AI investment into Maharashtra.

  • A memorandum of understanding signed Thursday between Maharashtra and AM Intelligence Labs outlines a Rs 1.14 lakh crore plan for an Integrated Green Data Centre Park and AI compute hub in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
  • The facility is planned at 500 megawatts of capacity powered by renewable energy, with 200 MW slated by 2028, the remaining 300 MW by 2030, and about 250,000 high-performance AI chipsets deployed.
  • The state projects about 8,000 direct and indirect jobs in high-tech roles such as software engineering, data science, and operations, plus roughly 2,000 construction jobs during build-out.
  • The development will proceed under the state’s Information Technology Policy 2023 and its Green Integrated Data Centre Park Policy 2024.
  • In a parallel step, the Cabinet approved the Maharashtra AI Policy 2026, which targets more than Rs 10,000 crore in investment and over 1.5 lakh jobs by 2031.
