Maharashtra Makes DigiLocker Mandatory and Broadens Eligibility in CAP 2026

The CET Cell says the changes will speed secure digital verification to cut verification-linked seat vacancies.

Overview

  • The CET Cell updated CAP rules in early July, requiring candidates to store and verify JEE Main 2026 scorecards in their DigiLocker accounts before importing scores into the CAP portal for All‑India BE/BTech applications.
  • The eligibility window was widened so MHT‑CET 2026 candidates from PCM or PCB groups can now apply for BBA, BCA, BMS and BBM programmes, expanding the pool of applicants for undergraduate management courses.
  • Multiple CAP registration waves are open now with key deadlines across courses between July 9 and July 19, and provisional merit lists and verification schedules set for mid‑ to late July.
  • The CET Cell has set up e‑scrutiny and physical scrutiny options, student facilitation and scrutiny centres across districts, helplines, and separate portals for NRI, OCI, PIO, CIWGC and foreign‑national applicants to speed document checks.
  • Officials cited last year’s data of about 740,765 seats with roughly 227,298 vacancies as a driver for these measures and say the digital checks and broader eligibility are intended to reduce unverified applications and increase seat fill rates.
