The case began after a private tutor reported a ₹10,000 demand to arrange a scribe for a student with a learning disability.

Overview

  • ACB Navi Mumbai caught assistant superintendent Sudam Lotan Chavan, 57, accepting ₹8,000 at the board’s Vashi divisional office around 12:45 pm on February 13.
  • The tutor had been authorized by the student’s mother to seek a writer for the February 2026 SSC exam and to request a subject change.
  • Staff initially asked for the prescribed ₹200 fee before Chavan allegedly sought ₹10,000 and agreed to ₹8,000 during ACB verification.
