Overview
- The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, which met Wednesday under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved special incentives for 18 mega and ultra-mega projects.
- Officials projected more than 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs from the package across the state.
- The approvals target clean energy and high-tech manufacturing, including solar equipment, lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles and parts, green steel, green ammonia, electronics, defence, space hardware, and gas-to-chemicals.
- The largest proposals include Essar’s ₹56,852 crore plan in Raigad with about 25,000 jobs and Rashmi Metallurgical’s ₹40,000 crore unit in Gadchiroli with about 20,000 jobs.
- Projects are spread across regions to lift local economies and supply chains, with named sites in Pune and Talegaon, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Gadchiroli, Ahilyanagar, Raigad, and Chandrapur, though actual investment and hiring will depend on follow-through.
