Overview
- Oswal Pumps accepted a repeat Rs 235.92 crore order from MSEDCL to supply 10,000 off-grid DC solar pumps for the PM Kusum B scheme, covering 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP systems.
- The Oswal contract requires full delivery, installation and commissioning within 60 days and includes a five-year warranty plus remote monitoring and maintenance obligations.
- Shakti Pumps received a Letter of Empanelment from MSEDCL for 15,000 off-grid pumps valued at about Rs 353.89 crore inclusive of GST, increasing state procurement of solar irrigation equipment.
- Market response was immediate with Oswal and Shakti shares rising about 8% intraday, while analysts cut margin forecasts because higher input costs and lower realizations weigh on near-term profitability.
- These bulk purchases by MSEDCL aim to lower irrigation costs and reduce diesel and grid dependence for farmers, but they raise execution risks for suppliers and will test supply chains and service capacity during rollout.
