  • The shaking was felt widely across southern EcuadorMachala, Cuenca, Loja and Guayas—and northern Peru’s Tumbes region, prompting brief evacuations captured in viral videos.
  • Emergency agencies in both countries (COEN/COER/Indeci in Peru and SNGR in Ecuador) deployed rapid inspections and reported no casualties or significant structural damage.
  • Peru’s Navy ruled out a tsunami alert, and authorities continue monitoring for aftershocks as IGP recorded smaller quakes elsewhere, including near Callao and Chimbote.
