- The USGS reported magnitude 5.5 at a depth of about 43 km, locating the epicenter 47 km north-northwest of Khandud in northern Afghanistan.
- Pakistan's meteorological agency said shaking was felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Swat and Chitral, prompting brief evacuations.
- In India, tremors were reported in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, while earlier in the day a 4.3 quake struck eastern Afghanistan and a separate 3.2 event was logged in Arunachal Pradesh.
