Magnitude 3.7 Earthquake Felt in Lima Late Thursday, Following Small Quakes Near Chilca

  • The IGP reported a magnitude 3.7 quake at 11:00 p.m. local time on March 19, located 9 km northeast of central Lima at a depth of 84 km, felt at intensity II–III.
  • Authorities said no injuries or material damage had been reported after the Lima tremor.
  • Earlier the same day, a magnitude 3.5 quake struck at 3:27 a.m. about 19 km southwest of Chilca in Cañete at 46 km depth, with intensity III in Chilca.
  • The late-night Lima event followed a short run of low-magnitude, felt quakes around the region over March 18–19, which remain under official monitoring.
