Overview
- The U.S. Geological Survey placed the epicenter 2.8 miles north-northwest of West Valley City near Magna at 6:32 p.m. local time.
- The University of Utah Seismograph Stations estimated the depth at about 5.3 miles.
- Residents reported shaking in Taylorsville, Kearns, Salt Lake City and across parts of the Wasatch Front.
- No injuries or damage have been reported as agencies monitor the event and note that measurements may be revised.
- The quake follows a 3.5 near Saratoga Springs on Feb. 5 and a 4.7 near Evanston, Wyoming, on Jan. 22, and University of Utah researchers say the Magna event may be an aftershock of the March 2020 quake.
