Magna Signs Deals to Sell Lighting and Rooftop Businesses

The auto supplier says the moves sharpen its portfolio focus without altering its 2026 earnings outlook.

Overview

  • Magna International, which on Thursday announced definitive sale agreements, will divest its Lighting unit in two deals and its Rooftop Systems unit in a third.
  • One investment firm will buy the Lighting operations that serve programs in North America, South America and China, while a separate firm will take over the European Lighting and Rooftop businesses.
  • All three transactions are slated to close in the second half of 2026, pending customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
  • The two businesses sit within Magna’s Power & Vision segment and produced about $1.1 billion in 2025 sales, with roughly $1.0 billion from Lighting and $0.1 billion from Rooftop Systems.
  • Magna said the divestitures will not change its previously issued 2026 adjusted earnings-per-share outlook, and its CEO pledged a smooth handoff for employees and customers during the transition.
