Overview
- Madring’s chief operating officer Carlos Jimenez told reporters the venue is exploring the idea of routing part of the circuit through the IFEMA exhibition halls as an experimental indoor section.
- If implemented the feature would be the first indoor section in a Formula 1 world championship event and would require new technical and safety approvals before it could be added.
- The base circuit is confirmed as a 5.4 km layout with 22 turns, 57 laps and a headline 500-metre La Monumental banking lined by grandstands planned to seat about 45,000 spectators.
- Organisers say track asphalt is complete in the south but permanent garages, grandstands and the paddock remain under construction and teams are working around the clock to meet remaining inspections and city sign‑offs.
- The venue’s contract runs through at least 2035, giving organisers time to develop experimental ideas, and they point to Formula E’s London ExCeL as a proof of concept for indoor/outdoor racing transitions.
