Madrid Sets Weekend Chinese New Year Showcase in Usera, With Parade Moving to Pradolongo

A city-backed program in Usera spotlights the rare Fire Horse year with community partnerships plus visiting performers.

  • From February 20 to 22, the official schedule packs 30+ activities across the Junta Municipal plaza, Pradolongo Park, Plaza de Julián Marías and Plaza de las Tizas.
  • The Gran Desfile is set for Sunday, February 22 at 12:00, starting by the CEAC Maris Stella community garden and finishing at Pradolongo’s lakeside spur with roughly 1,000–1,200 participants.
  • The Saturday pyrotechnic show, La fiesta del caballo de fuego, is scheduled in Pradolongo at 20:00, preceded from 18:00 by a DJ Dr. Kielmannsegge set at the park’s bandstand.
  • Festivities open Friday at 17:00 in the Junta Municipal plaza with traditional lion dance displays, food stalls, workshops and a confirmed appearance by Canton’s Yingge Dance Company.
  • The weekend sits within a wider cultural slate that includes free Saturday nights at the Thyssen (21:00–23:00), the Leer Juntos literary festival through February 21 and a free Bach cello recital at Fundación Juan March on February 25.
