Madrid Court Sentences Kiko Matamoros and Makoke to 1 Year, 9 Months for Hiding Assets From Tax Agency

The terms will likely be suspended under Spanish law for first offenders with sentences under two years.

Overview

  • The court found they put a Pozuelo de Alarcón home in Makoke’s name even though Matamoros bought it, lived there, and paid the mortgage.
  • Judges said Matamoros routed TV income through the company Silla de Ring SL and third parties, with €167,000 in personal spending booked between 2011 and 2015.
  • Both admitted the facts during the latest hearing, which reduced the prosecutor’s original requests of five and a half years for him and four years for her.
  • The judgment orders a joint €405,000 payment to the tax office, while Matamoros also owes more than €636,000 in unpaid taxes, and it notes Makoke has consigned €60,000.
  • Because the prison terms are under two years and they have no serious prior records, neither is expected to enter prison if the court grants suspension after civil debts are covered.
