Madlanga Commission Postpones Tumelo Nku Testimony Indefinitely

• Commission chair Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga announced on Thursday that Nku’s evidence was postponed indefinitely because of unresolved security concerns.

• Nku had earlier told the inquiry he acted as a confidential police source who tipped off Gauteng traffic police and that the R65,000 found on him was for travel expenses.
• Other testimony and material presented to the commission, including Witness J’s closed‑session account and extracted phone and Threema records, dispute Nku’s informer account and allege direct involvement in trafficking.
• Hearings will resume at 9:30am on Friday and the commission has subpoenaed tenderpreneur Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala to appear on 7 July after a court rejected his proposed plea deal, a sequence of events that could affect prosecutions and witness cooperation.
