Overview
- Effective May 1, 2026, SERNANP will charge a separate conservation fee for entry to the Machu Picchu sanctuary in addition to the Ministry of Culture ticket.
- Adults will pay S/11 if foreign and S/5 if Peruvian or Andean; minors will pay S/5 (foreign) and S/3 (national), and the fee will not apply to visitors entering via the Inca Trail.
- All proceeds are earmarked for conservation and visitor management, including access infrastructure, emergency brigades, fire recovery, sanitation on the Inca Trail, signage, control posts, surveillance and interpretation centers.
- The start date was shifted from February to May to finish integrating a single sales platform administered with the Ministry of Culture and to improve the visitor experience.
- Access protections remain in place with free Sunday entry for Cusco citizens and local residents by reservation and free admission year-round for children under three, and SERNANP’s published rates supersede higher figures reported elsewhere.
