M6 Northbound Closed Between J32 and J33 After Serious Crash During UK Weekend Road Disruptions

Diversions are in place across affected routes following multiple crashes, including a fatality on the A500.

Overview

  • National Highways said the M6 in Lancashire is shut northbound between junctions 32 (M55) and 33 (Galgate) after a serious collision involving two cars, with emergency services on scene late Sunday into early Monday.
  • Drivers are being diverted via the M55 to J1 and the A6 through Broughton, Barton, Bilsborrow and Garstang to rejoin the M6 at J33, with some traffic caught within the closure overnight.
  • The M66 southbound closed between J1 (Ramsbottom) and J2 (Bury) after a serious four-vehicle crash, with Greater Manchester Police leading collision investigation work and a signed diversion via the A56 and A58.
  • Staffordshire Police confirmed a man died at the scene of a 4.35am crash on the A500 on February 14 involving a grey Jaguar and a white MAN lorry, and officers appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
  • Earlier incidents included long M1 northbound delays of at least 45 minutes between J31 and J32 after a serious collision, a six-vehicle crash on the A44 that sent two people to hospital, and a two-car A470 crash that closed the road for hours with two taken to hospital.
