M4 Near Bristol Reopens After Car Transporter Crash, With One Hospitalised

Traffic in both directions was held before the route fully reopened around 10am.

Overview

  • Police said they were called at about 8.05am on 11 March to a single-vehicle collision involving a car transporter on the westbound M4 between junctions 20 and 21.
  • Traffic was stopped in both directions and the A38 overbridge was closed, with delays of more than 30 minutes and queues affecting the M48 back toward Aust.
  • One person was taken to hospital following the crash, and no details on the extent of injuries were released.
  • All closures were lifted by around 10am and traffic conditions returned to normal, according to police, National Highways and Inrix updates.
  • Separate delays also cleared quickly: an M5 southbound crash near junctions 11–11A was resolved before 11.30am on 11 March, and an M4 eastbound hold early on 12 March between junctions 21 and 20 cleared before 7.55am.
