Overview
- The motorway closes in both directions from 8pm on 24 December until 4am on 4 January between Junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 11 (Fareham).
- All traffic will follow signed diversions via the A27, with westbound drivers leaving at J11 to rejoin at J9 and eastbound drivers leaving at J9 to rejoin at J11.
- Access during the works is limited, with the westbound exit open at J11 and the eastbound exit open at J9, but no westbound entry at J11 and no eastbound entry at J9.
- Officials warn of severe congestion on the A27, particularly between 10am and 4pm each day, and advise motorists to allow extra time and consider alternative routes.
- Hampshire County Council says the festive timing offers the safest and most efficient window for the works and has apologized for the disruption.
