Overview
- The Together for Palestine ensemble issued the charity single today, featuring contributors including Brian Eno, Neneh Cherry, Nadine Shah, Mabel, Celeste, Leigh-Anne and the London Community Gospel Choir.
- The track reimagines the traditional Palestinian song “Yamma Mweel El Hawa,” arranged by Nai Barghouti with Kieran Brunt, with an English adaptation by Peter Gabriel.
- Organisers are urging downloads and streams to try to reach the UK Christmas No. 1, a campaign Eno framed as a way to turn chart attention into funding for families in Gaza.
- All proceeds are designated for Choose Love’s Together for Palestine Fund, which will channel money to Taawon, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Palestine Medical Relief Service.
- Recorded after September’s sold-out Wembley benefit that raised about £2m, the release arrives with a video by Lina Makoul and artwork by Gazan painter Malak Mattar, and a recording of the concert streams on YouTube from 19 December.
