Overview
- The A350‑1000, registered D‑AIFA and painted in Lufthansa’s 100th‑anniversary scheme, emerged from Airbus’s Toulouse paint shop on Tuesday.
- The jet will undergo manufacturer test flights, interior completion and a formal acceptance inspection before it is flown to Munich this autumn for final handover and a later naming ceremony.
- D‑AIFA is the first of 15 A350‑1000s on firm order for Lufthansa and is configured to carry about 300 passengers across four classes: First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.
- Lufthansa says the special blue livery with an oversized white crane drew strong attention and AviTrader reported 432 litres of blue and 246 litres of white paint were used for the design.
- The larger, more fuel‑efficient A350‑1000 will replace four‑engined A340‑600s, strengthen Munich’s long‑haul operations, lower operating costs and reduce emissions while becoming Airbus’s 700th delivery to the Lufthansa Group.
