Overview
- Lufthansa launched its first retrofitted A380 on the Munich–Los Angeles route using aircraft D-AIMC.
- The jet now features a 1-2-1 business-class layout with 68 Thompson seats that convert into beds at least two meters long.
- Each business seat includes an 18-inch Panasonic screen with Bluetooth for personal headphones plus a new 3D map and flight cameras.
- Lufthansa selected a customized off-the-shelf Thompson design rather than its Allegris flagship, which adds direct aisle access and reduces the cabin from 78 to 68 seats.
- Work took about 12 weeks at Elbe Flugzeugwerke in Dresden, with a second A380 now in overhaul and all eight Munich-based jets slated for completion by mid-2027.
