Lucid Sets Measured Saudi Launch for Cosmos to Build Toward 2028 Scale

Management points to scale, software revenue plus an Uber robotaxi partnership as the route to profitability.

Overview

  • CFO Taoufiq Boussaid said Cosmos production will begin in Saudi Arabia by year-end with a “relatively slow ramp” in 2027 and movement toward fuller capacity in 2028.
  • Lucid kept 2026 manufacturing guidance at 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles and called it conservative given supply-chain and geopolitical risks.
  • The company unveiled a midsize platform underpinning Cosmos and Earth and showed the two-seat Lunar robotaxi concept, with consumer models targeted below $50,000.
  • Uber’s president said an expanded agreement is being finalized to deploy Lucid’s midsize vehicles as robotaxis at volumes comparable to the 20,000 Gravity SUVs already contracted.
  • Lucid reported about $4.6 billion in liquidity funding operations into the first half of 2027 and acknowledged another fundraise, as Citi initiated coverage with a Buy rating and a $17 price target.
