Overview
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall on Friday after Lucid identified that a software-controlled electronic fuse can fail to interrupt overcurrent in low-voltage exterior lighting circuits.
- The action covers 27,185 Lucid Air sedans built from October 2021 through July 2026 across model years 2022–2026 and is the largest recall in the company’s history.
- Lucid deployed an over-the-air software update (version 2.10.0) in July that lowers the eFuse threshold and stops repeated re-energizing of a faulted circuit, and 20,719 affected cars have already received the update.
- About 6,466 vehicles remain unpatched and NHTSA has advised owners of those cars to park them outside and away from structures until the remedy is installed; Lucid will begin mailing remedy notices on October 16.
- The recall adds to multiple 2026 safety campaigns for Lucid and comes as the company implements a cost and operational reset after reporting steep losses and cutting U.S. staff and production shifts.
