Lucid Misses Q1 Delivery Estimates After Gravity Seat Recall

A supplier-caused safety fix paused Gravity deliveries for nearly a month.

Overview

  • Reporting Friday, the company said it built 5,500 vehicles and delivered 3,093, below Visible Alpha's delivery estimate.
  • Deliveries of the Gravity SUV were halted for 29 days after a supplier made an unapproved change that affected second-row seat components.
  • The issue prompted a recall of more than 4,000 Gravity SUVs after Lucid told U.S. regulators some second-row seat-belt anchors were not properly welded.
  • Lucid said the problem has been fixed and reaffirmed its 2026 production outlook of 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles.
  • The company will discuss full first-quarter results on May 5, 2026, as EV startups continue to wrestle with tariffs, chip shortages, rare-earth supply strains, and a key supplier fire.
