  • An interdisciplinary roster spanning neuroscience, philosophy, veterinary science, law and AI is being assembled alongside non-governmental organisations.
  • A flagship project will explore AI-enabled pet–human communication and evaluate risks of AI-generated misinformation harming welfare.
  • Professor Jonathan Birch is leading efforts to establish globally recognised ethical guidelines to address current regulatory gaps in animal-focused AI applications.
  • Trustees including Professor Kristin Andrews intend to use findings on simpler animal systems to shed light on human consciousness and rehabilitation.
