LPGA Adds Hong Kong Stop With Largest Women’s Purse in Asia

The new Futu Ladies World Championship shows the Tour is using fintech sponsorship and schedule realignment to deepen its presence in key Asian markets.

Overview

  • The LPGA has confirmed the inaugural Futu Ladies World Championship will be held at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club from March 4–7, 2027 with a US$3.4 million purse.
  • The event is backed by Hong Kong fintech Futu Holdings and its trading app moomoo, which will be the presenting sponsor under a multi-year deal that runs through 2029, and it will be organised by SMK.
  • Organisers say the tournament will replace the Blue Bay LPGA on the Tour’s spring Asia swing and is slated to be the final leg of that swing with an expected 78-player field.
  • Key operational details remain to be released, including the confirmed player roster, ticketing plans, broadcast partners and other event logistics.
  • The tournament marks the LPGA’s return to Hong Kong after decades, is likely to boost local interest in the sport and could strengthen the Tour’s ability to attract top players by offering bigger purses.
