Lotus Unveils Emira 420 Sport as Most Powerful, Lightest Emira

The new variant sharpens aerodynamics, cooling and handling with a 25 kg weight-saving pack, signaling Lotus’s shift toward V6‑hybrid powertrains.

Overview

  • The Emira 420 Sport, launched Tuesday, is available to order now with deliveries expected from August 2026 and base prices from £105,900 in the UK, €129,900 in Europe and $122,900 in the US.
  • Lotus fits a Mercedes‑AMG 2.0‑litre turbocharged four that makes about 420 PS (414 hp) and roughly 500 Nm, with a 0–62 mph time near 3.9 seconds and a top speed around 186 mph.
  • An optional Lightweight Handling Pack reduces curb weight by about 25 kg using a titanium exhaust, a lithium‑ion 12V battery, carbon‑fibre parts and two‑way Multimatic dampers and adds roughly 25 kg of downforce.
  • The 420 Sport gains revised aero and cooling hardware—new splitter, larger intakes, extended sills and a louvred tailgate—which Lotus says raises airflow to key radiators, brake ducts and the exhaust‑valve system by double‑digit percentages.
  • For the first time on the Emira range, Lotus offers a removable tinted glass roof panel that stores behind the seats, and the 420 Sport is DCT‑only with power routed to the rear wheels through an eight‑speed dual‑clutch transmission.
