Overview
- Kevin Miller pleaded guilty at Peterborough Crown Court after prosecutors accepted a lesser charge following consultations with police, expert witnesses, the CPS and the victim’s family.
- Unsecured crane equipment hanging over his lorry’s trailer struck 30-year-old Rebecca Ableman as she pushed her daughter along a footpath in Willingham on 22 September 2022.
- Ableman suffered catastrophic head and brain injuries and died three weeks later at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
- Judge Matthew Lowe ordered a pre-sentence report and released Miller on unconditional bail pending the April hearing.
- Miller told police he was unaware of the collision until stopped more than two hours later, as the truck carried scrap metal from King’s Lynn docks to Network Rail depots.
