London Underground Robbery Ringleader Jailed After 11-Day Spree

CCTV evidence underpinned a British Transport Police case that led to his arrest on returning to London.

Overview

  • Adel Kerari, 27, pleaded guilty to six counts of robbery and one count of fraud by false representation and was sentenced to two years and eight months at Inner London Crown Court on January 9.
  • The gang targeted lone commuters over 11 days in June 2023 at stations including Holborn, Leicester Square, Russell Square, Chancery Lane, Notting Hill, Shepherd’s Bush, Piccadilly Circus and Leyton.
  • Victims were punched, pushed and robbed of phones, wallets and headphones, with one stolen bank card used hours later at an off‑licence as captured on CCTV.
  • British Transport Police identified Kerari in 2023, he left the country, and he was arrested at a west London address on September 4, 2025 after returning to the UK.
  • Co‑conspirators were sentenced in 2023 and 2024 to a combined total of more than 10 years, and police urged victims to call 999 or speak to staff immediately after robberies.
