Overview
- Marchand's team confirmed on Monday that the swimmer will return to France this summer for a staged preparation ahead of the French Championships and the European Championships in Paris.
- He is due to join INSEP in Paris from about June 15 and remain there through the French Championships in Saint-Étienne, scheduled for June 27 to July 2.
- After the French Championships he will spend several weeks training at the Cercle des nageurs de Marseille with the elite group led by Franck Esposito and Romain Barnier ahead of the European meet (August 10–16).
- The move is temporary and does not change his club status: Marchand will stay licensed to Dauphins/TOEC (Toulouse) and continue to apply the training programme of his U.S. coach, Bob Bowman, while integrating into French collective sessions.
- Marchand is a four-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder in the 200m and 400m individual medley, and the plan is meant to combine top facilities, group training and time to handle professional obligations so he reaches peak form for the summer.
